We now live in a green world (even though it has always been mostly blue). Join the green revolution, our range of eco-friendly products will help you do your bit.
Sustainability presumes all resources are finite and therefore should be used conservatively. Choosing packaging that doesn’t create excessive waste can be a step towards sustainability. Removing plastic packaging completely may not be the answer as full dependence on cardboard creates huge pressure on our forests. A reduction in waste and choosing a packaging solution that can easily be recycled or used again can significantly reduce your carbon footprint and put less pressure on our precious ecosystems.
Whilst we understand that no packaging material is 100% environmentally friendly, we have a range of products that are a step in the right direction and we are always looking for materials that will help to reduce the environmental damage we are having on our planet. No matter how ‘green’ a product is, if it ends up in landfill, rivers or oceans it becomes human waste.
An eco friendly image is vital in todays market place. Too much void fill or unnecessary amounts of plastic can have a negative impact on your company image. At makkipak we offer a range of eco friendly options.
Do your bit with a snug fit
Our made to measure box and oxo-degradable bubble bag service ensures that packaging waste is kept to a minimum. How many deliveries do you receive from large retail companies that use oversized boxes filled with annoying polystyrene void fill or excessive amounts of crumpled paper? Energy is still required to recycle cardboard. Make a change to how you pack your product. If you need advise on how to make your packaging more eco friendly, call us today on 01604 812755 for expert advice or request a quote online for made to measure boxes or bubble bags.
Here are just some of our Eco Tips
1/ Do you need such a large box ? With a bespoke box you immediately reduce the need for void fill.
2/ Do you need a double wall box ? Have you tried shipping your product in a single wall version?
3/ Are you wrapping your product in vast amounts of bubble wrap, have you tried using a bubble bag (double laminated for extra strength) ? We can make a bespoke bubble bag to reduce your packaging further.
4/ Did you know that the lighter brown ‘test’ liner cardboard has a higher recycle content than the darker brown ‘kraft’ lined cardboard ? Does the shade of brown on your box really matter ?
5/ Are you using paper adhesive tape to seal your boxes? This can be recycled with the box, a greener solution to conventional tapes.
6/ Do you need to use tape at all ? A bespoke die cut box may avoid the need for tape altogether !
7/ Are you buying your packaging in bulk ? Seems like an odd question, but think of the impact of transportation on the environment if you buy small quantities regularly.
8/ There are various grades of corrugated board, the grades where only ‘test’ board is used (the lighter shades of cardboard) are made from 100% recycled material. We can supply 125T/125T B grade which offers this recycled content. Avoid white grades of board that have only between 60 and 70% recycled content.
Packaging is only truly ‘eco friendly’ when it is recycled responsibly.
