Eco friendly boxes
FUN FACT ! Since their invention in 1894 by Henry Norris and Robert Thompson to replace wooden boxes, the corrugated box remains the most sustainable and cost effective way of protecting goods in transit.
Standard style boxes have flaps top and bottom that you seal with parcel tape. They are the regular boxes used for general purpose packaging or house moving. Also known by those in the packaging trade as a Fefco style 0201.
Makkipak cardboard boxes are made from corrugated board sourced from trusted suppliers. Most European paper is made from sustainable forests owned by SCA (Swedish Cellulose Company) who plant two trees for every one cut down. Kraft paper used for the outer liner of your cardboard box is from sofwood trees such as Pine, Spruce and Fir. Test inner liners come from hardwood trees such as Birch, Chestnut, Oak and Sycamore. All these trees are carefully managed in SCA owned forests.
It is more common that the majority of your cardboard box is made from recycled content which is why we feel cardboard is an eco friendly packaging product. We encourage customers to look at the option of made to measure boxes as it reduces the need for void fill.
